Summary | 0000111: Ctrl-P (restore default windows positions) doesn´t work if no layout has been saved.
Description | If you shift a window around, you can restore it to the default position using either the mouse (Window->Default positions) of Ctrl-P . This latter does not work on a fresh install. It only works if at least one layout has been saved.
Steps To Reproduce | Make sure in the ~/.bcast5 directory there are no "layoutn_rc" files, where n is a number. Start cin5. Shift a window around, hit Ctrl-P. It does not go back to the default position. Use the mouse and click Windows->default positions , the default layout is restored (so restore functionality itself works). Shift the window again, with the mouse do Windows->Save layout->Layout1. Now hit Ctrl-P, the default position is restored. Exit cin5, delete the new lauout1_rc file, restart cin5. If you move a window now, ctrl-P doesn´t work, until again at least one layout has been saved.

Closing by agreement. | |
You are right. Ctrl-P works always if the main window has focus. I agree about the shortage of shortcuts, so I suggest to leave it as-is.
I am "thinking" that it is just a matter of realizing that Ctrl-P ONLY works from the main window. This is historical and initially while programming the Layout feature a couple of months ago, that too only worked from the main window. But GG realized that if he did not make it work from the other windows, there would be even more confusion. The window pulldown always works because that is run from the main window so has to! Since closing this means no one can comment any more, I will wait a couple of days. It could turn into a feature request but doubtful it would ever get implemented! Actually, I just thought about this some more, we are so short on shortcuts that we prefer NOT to make it work from other windows as a feature request. |
