Summary | 0000131: Crash with mp3 files
Description | Cinelerra crashes all the time when I try to add a lot of Mp3 sound effects to my resource. There is also no dump generated and I don't really see anything in the console. I sent you a link to these files by private mail.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Start Cinelerra 2. Add my files to media tab 3. It crashes.

Many thanks for the quick help!
It has to be added every time UNLESS you put that command in your local login, like .bashrc or .profile, which gets run every time you log in.
I have a question, do I have to enter this command every time I know that the project is bigger and I have many files? Can I define this somewhere?
These are all sound effects and have a length of 5 to 10 seconds. As I said before, I often have big video projects and to find the right sound effect I have to listen to some of them. That's a normal number of sound effect files for larger projects. The sound effects that are unsuitable I delete in the course of the work. Thanks for the hint. It helped. I can load all files. |

It may be that somewhere along the timeline open, the program ran out of file descriptors. If you open a console terminal, and type: # ulimit -n 65535 and then invoke cinelerra as a command line: # /path/cin the cin process will inherit the open file limit upgrade from 1024 to 65535 open files. This may be needed if you work with a lot of open files, and 895 is a lot of files. |

Really??? 895 files??? Well it worked on my Asus Gaming Laptop which has 16 CPU cores and 16GB memory. And they show up in the Media folder of the Resources window and I can load them to the Viewer and play a couple. GG also tried them on his really big desktop. The files did load BUT the window manager died, not Cinelerra. He thinks you may be finally "oom" - Out Of Memory. Or some other system resource. Does "dmesg" show any kind of errors? When he did "journalctl -p 3" on his computer, he definitely sees system errors at the time the window manager died. He is booting Leap 15 now and will try there next. Perhaps you can try loading less files and see at what point the crash happens. |
