Summary0000194: Proxy with Scaler
DescriptionProxy with Scaler do not resize the image in the Compositor: it happens with png (images) files.
And in the Proxy Settings window the "New media dimensions:" are not update correctly.
Screencast to https://streamable.com/g8z71

My Project format is 1920x1080 (16/9).
Video and image files size: 1920x1080 pixels.
Steps To Reproduce1) Open Proxy Settings window
2) check Scaler checkBox and set Scale factor to 1/3.
The Compositor shows the image smaller.
3) Open Proxy Settings window again, and the "New media dimensions:" shows the original media size to 1920x1080 with the Scale factor to 1/3. It should be 640x360.
4) Reset the Scale factor to Original size and it shows 5760x3240 instead 1920x1080.

IgorB: Thanks for testing -- it is so helpful to have someone who uses proxy a lot to confirm the fix.
You do not have to open a new ticket to explain better, I am still re-reading the email but have been lazy this summer.

By my tests I think it is PERFECT.
Tested with Proxy, with or without Scaler, and changing file codec.
Thanks!

About "Nested clip and Proxy", that I wrote in mailing list, do you want I open a new ticket in MantisBT, so I try to explain better?
Thanks.

IgorB:

"If use Proxy with Scaler ... only the videos are rescaled (enlarged) to a project format, not the images."
This is now fixed and in order to do so, some rework had to be done. Another bug was fixed also -- in the proxy menu, if you changed the file format, (for example, from m2ts to mpeg) it did not take affect until you bring the menu back up. The fix makes it so it takes affect immediately. A ubuntu 16 test version is at:

Waiting for GG to explain this to be better.

Thanks for the Ubuntu17 test build.
For the point 3) and 4) in "Steps To Reproduce" it's okay. Thanks.

Phyllis, like you, me too don't understand that.
When I use Proxy without Scaler all videos and all images are resize to the new (little) size, and it works really fine for me.
If use Proxy with Scaler (really few time) all proxy files are created with the new size (scale) but only the videos are rescaled (enlarged) to a project format, not the images. For me is really strange.

For example:
- Project format= 1920x1080
- Videos and images size= 1920x1080
- Proxy with Scaler:
   - Scale factor= 1/3 (640x360)

I guess that Cinelerra-GG use the Scale factor to resize (enlarge) from 640x360 to 1920x1080 in Proxy with Scaler, but only for the videos.

For "Proxy with Scaler do not resize the image in the Compositor: it happens with png (images) files." GG says it is working as intended and is correct. Both with and without scaler work consistently when zoom is set to "auto". And he says you can not use reduce scale proxy because it has to work that way with certain plugins. I hope this is understandable to you because it sure is not to me.

Media dimensions problem with Proxy Scaler has been fixed. A Ubuntu16 test version is at:

https://www.cinelerra-gg.org/download/testing/cinelerra-5.1-ub16-x86_64-static.txz

I am still working on the still image problem understanding.
