Summary0000367: add support for OpenSUSE Tumbleweed
DescriptionHi, i want to try Cinelerra GG Infinity on my os (OpenSUSE) version (Tumbleweed)
i can't find my distro on your download site (i only find opensuse leap) which is not mine, it's a huge difference between the two versions.
the OpenSUSE Tumbleweed is a rolling distro, and its has own repositories.
so i hope you add support for this os version.

Thanks!

Tumbleweed is now available and will be part of the monthly builds. Just a reminder that with a rolling release distro, if certain libraries change it could break Cinelerra and it will have to be recompiled to accomodate that and that is only done at the end of the month. Tumbleweed was shortended to "tweed" for purposes of keeping the name smaller for our build computer.

For a rolling release, as Andrea stated, it is possible to do a single-user build and would be preferable. However, we realize that for users, doing a package install is the easy way to go so we found an empty partition on the build machine and will be creating new releases when doing the builds. Try it as follows:

zypper ar -f https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/pkgs/tweed/ cingg
zypper mr -G cingg
zypper install -r cingg cinelerra

The first line with the "ar" means to "a"dd "r"epository.
The second line with the "mr" removes the requirement for the GPG signature.
The third line installs Cinelerra and then type "cin" to start it up.

Please understand and remember that with Tumbleweed being a rolling release, Cinelerra can be broken by a new update from Tumbleweed. We used the January 30 snapshot BUT if on January 31 or at any time, a rolling release changes a key library being used by Cinelerra, then Cinelerra might have to be recompiled to continue to work.

A while ago, I tried to build CinGG on Tumbleweed without any problems. If you know how to compile a program, instructions can be found in the manual (chapter 1; section 1.1; "To do a single-user build":

https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/CinelerraGG_Manual.pdf

Note however that the script to install the dependencies (bld_prepare.sh) download TexLive which are almost 1 GB.

I will see if this can be added because from what I have read on the internet, it looks like it is the wave of the future. But our build computer has a limited number of partitions and we may not have space.
