Summary0000044: Phantom keyframe boxes
DescriptionWhen "Settings -> Preferences -> Interface -> Keyframe reticle: Always" is set and I add some keyframes to a track, if I zoom in, some non-existent keyframe boxes appear. It happens quite often, so it's confusing. I took three screenshots, before zoom in, after zoom in and after another zoom in. In each of them, some new boxes appear.

A fix has been generated and I no longer see phantom keyframes in my testing. This fix will be included in the end of the months builds. Thanks for reporting!

We could not initially reproduce here but now with the added information and XML we will try to figure it out. Thanks!

Lukas, very good! Thanks for the XML.
I can confirm (and see) your issue. (I am not a developer)

To see, or not, the issue I have set Main window to "Hours:Minutes_Seconds:Frames".
- "Duration visible in the timeline" from 0:00:01:18 to 0:00:00:00 ==> Yes, some non-existent keyframe boxes appear. (They are between a frame and next frame).
-"Duration visible in the timeline" > 0:00:03:06 ==> It is OKAY

Tested on UbuntuStudio_16.04 and "cinelerra-5.1-ub16.04-20181129.x86_64-static"
I hope it may help the developers. Thanks.

I've attached a test XML file. You can open in in Cinelerra and press the Down-arrow key. Several phantom keyframe boxes will appear on the left. They are around almost every label in this file, when you zoom in far enough.

test1.xml (46,961 bytes)

"Maybe it happens when the project is more complex."
I agree with you.
If I were you,...
1) Load my real project (not test project)
2) File-> Export Project...-> Copy option selected, and new folder/project, named "Abc-test"
3) close Cinelerra-GG
4) open again Cinelerra-GG
5) Load the project from the test folder "Abc-test" (so, I don't touch my original files)

Or a backup before some tests on the original project.
It is just my idea.

Hello, I tried it in Cinelerra-GG from Nov 29 2018, 32-bit in Linux Mint 17 and 64-bit in Linux Mint 19. And you are right, I've just started a simple test project, added several keyframes and nothing strange happened. Maybe it happens when the project is more complex. I noticed it in several projects with about 6 tracks, 100 shots and maybe 50 keyframes. I will try to make a new test project.

Hi Lukas,
could you give us more information, please?
What Cin-GG version are you using? What Linux distribution?

I just tested it on "cinelerra-5.1-ub16.04-20181129.x86_64-static" and "cinelerra-5.1-ub16-x86_64-static (built Dec 8 2018)" and your issue doesn't appear to me. My test was: inserted Fade keyframes on video and audio tracks, and zoomed in/out with ArrowDn/ArrowUp, shift+mouse wheel.
