| Description | To create a fast or slow motion effect on a segment of a project I understand that the best way currently is to apply:
ReframeRT to video
Time stretch RT to audio
and adjust frame and samples conversion to the needed ratio.
Problem: the clip or I/O segment remains the original length on the timeline, even though the duration of the affected segment will end before (for fast motion) or after (for slow motion) the visible length of clip/segment.
This means that the next clips in the sequence need to be placed on new tracks, beginning at the point the reframed clip ends, making lots of work - imagine if you wanted to keep making something speed up then return to normal then speed up... multiple times (or slooow down).
Suggestion: create a new Motion speed effect
When applied to a clip or I/O segment then that area then adjusts on the timeline, to shrink or stretch out.
The area could be coloured over, or checkered or something.
Then the proceeding clips that are placed on the same track continue from the end of the affected segment without a blank screen, or without being hidden by a slow motion effect extending over them.
One for video, one for audio, as audio effect may not be needed or desired.
I think other editors have this technique already - kdenlive and openshot have it.
