I believe the note located by Andrew-R is the feedback so am marking as resolved and will close in a couple of days.

@Andrea_Paz
But do you try to load 500 files in Cinelerra in one session? and do you have thumbnail vicons enabled? It is possible when loading 308 files which creates 308 vicons and have other programs with open files, you could get beyond 1024.

I am not sure if it is only the number of open files that is important. I use an Arch package, "realtime-privileges," which sets the limits automatically. The result on my system is:

$ ulimit -a
real-time non-blocking time (microseconds, -R) unlimited
core file size (blocks, -c) unlimited
data seg size (kbytes, -d) unlimited
scheduling priority (-e) 31
file size (blocks, -f) unlimited
pending signals (-i) 127882
max locked memory (kbytes, -l) unlimited
max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited
open files (-n) 1024
pipe size (512 bytes, -p) 8
POSIX message queues (bytes, -q) 819200
real-time priority (-r) 98
stack size (kbytes, -s) 8192
cpu time (seconds, -t) unlimited
max user processes (-u) 127882
virtual memory (kbytes, -v) unlimited
file locks (-x) unlimited

As you can see there are many unlimited parameters, but the open files have not been increased to 4096 and remain the initial 1024.

Better to wait for a response from Supin.

@supin
Will close this in a few days.
I am assuming that the report that Andrew-R found, emailed about, and quoted below was your feedback.

"I found this forum bugreport concerned Cingg 64 bit x86 Appimage for Debian 11
  https://www.linux.org.ru/forum/multimedia/16944076?lastmod=1660280725246
Answer was found by reporter, simply setting ulimit -n 4096 "

I have uploaded 186 files (some several GB in size) without any problems. I used the latest appimage on Arch linux. I must say, however, that I had already increased "ulimit" because Ardour required it. (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Limits.conf or by installing relatime-privileges which does it automatically). Let us know if this fixes the crash for you. Because of timezone differences, some other person may reply and read this rather than me.

2 possible causes:

1- Cause could be too many vicons (video icons) in the Resources window which you see when the Media folder is highlighted. You can eliminate them by using the Settings pulldown in the Main window; then click on the Appearance tab and look down to the flags area and uncheck "use thumbnail in resource window". You should then "save settings now" which is also under the Settings pulldown on the main window and restart CinGG.
2- Possible other cause is as shown in the manual under the Common Problems section and quoted below this url::
   https://cinelerra-gg.org/download/CinelerraGG_Manual/When_things_go_wrong.html

"Loading a very large number of media files, for example 500 clips, crashes CINELERRA-GG with messages similar to the following that are displayed in the window from where you started CINELERRA-GG:
   00007f54f8ff96c0 / 00007f56975706c0 9MainError
   00007f55147e86c0 / 00007f56767fc6c0 18FFMPEGScanProgress
This usually indicates that you are out of Operating System file descriptors. You
can increase the amount easily with the following command line: ulimit -n 4096
where 4096 is a size suggestion but can be increased. You can include this
command line in your .bashrc or .profile file for the user login which gets run
every time you login, or modify the Operating System limit for everyone in the
system file, which for Fedora is /etc/security/limits.conf. Alternatively,
you can reduce the number of file descriptors needed by going into Settings
→ Preferences, Appearance tab and unchecking the flag use thumbnails in
resource window.

I do see in your note the following which are similar to what the manual shows:
