Summary0000072: "Identifying source targets", does not work if I load old .xml files
Description"Identifying source targets" doesn't work if I load the .xml files from my old editings; The white and red areas do not appear in the window.

On the other hand, everything goes well if I create new editings from the same source or if I use an .xml file created very recently (december); "Identifying source targets" in this case works normally.

Even by causing the replacement of.bcast5... it doesn't change anything... same result.

Locked tracks should probably be honored so closing.

Concerning being able to disarm a track to not have it included (which is especially useful to ignore the audio) - will leave as is for now. Perhaps we can think of a different solution taking advantage of colors in the media too (but not the red bar) or trying to find another lock option that lets you view but will not let you modify.

Pierre already suggested the following "Perhaps the use of different colours for the drawing of the targets would help to separate everything better. "

Reminder for quickly locking or unlocking tracks:
- shift-click on arm button changes the state of all other tracks

@IgorBeg
The only argument that really makes sense is that it probably wouldn't be worth the effort. For the few times we use this feature, red bars are enough. If that's your argument as well, then I understand. It would be perfect for me if it also reflected the same colors. But that's a matter of taste.

@ all
This idea is not so important, there are more important things, so you can forget my suggestion.

@Sam
"I would appreciate if the red bars could match the color of the title bar."
Sam, nooo pleeeaseeee?! It is perfect as it is now. Please, please. Don't touch more that feature, pleeeease. (with my hands joined)

I have to agree with Igor that the current solution makes more sense.

Which I would appreciate if the red bars could match the color of the title bar. This gives you an even better distinction between the individual fragments.

GG/Phyllis, before you change the old "Identifying source targets" I would say my opinion. It is a mistake change it. That feature is not only for Pierre but also for other users like me. Pierre, do you want to see all trim on Preview? Then you DIsarmed all track.
Sometimes I use more video tracks and the same media video on different tracks once over others for color effects; only disarming/arming that track I exactly can see in which track it is. I think that before change sometimes more users/people (if any) should talk, in any questions not only that.
Sorry, if I think so.

Tomorrow gg will make "Identifying source targets" on locked tracks included too. You know better than we do about what makes the most sense. Will let you know when a new Mint18 is built.

Even if I sometimes do long projects, usually I don't have more than 2 or 3 video tracks (but many more audio tracks). For me, the important thing is not to limit the search for targets to a single track, but to know the complete distribution of the source.

The difficulty lies in the fact that some sources are widely used and it can be difficult to "follow" the targets. Perhaps the use of different colours for the drawing of the targets would help to separate everything better.

The rationale is that if you have, for example, 10 tracks and try to look at a specific media that is all over the place, it can be overwhelming to see so many edits and there is no way to not see them. We think it allows for more flexibility for large projects, but we can reverse this if necessary if you do not think it will ever be useful. While testing, gg thought it was quite useful.

Phyllis, you are the best!

When I finalize a project, I am used to lock all tracks, to avoid making mistakes inadvertently later. As soon as I got it unlocked, everything started working again.

However, I don't see the justification to make "Identifying source targets" on locked tracks non-functional.

I have noticed other strange problems with "Identifying source targets" but I will submit independent reports.

I loaded old xml files dated a year ago and see no problem.
Check to see if tracks are locked -- it does not report on locked tracks as of a couple of weeks ago. If this is a problem, we can back out that change.
