Summary | 0000099: Have "drag source only" also applicable to groups
Description | Quote from Xing: "Actually, one more thing would be if "drag source only" would also apply to groups." Settings->Preferences, Interface tab "Editing -- clicking on editing boundaries". Quote from Sam: "I can confirm that in PP the Trim feature (roll, shift, source, etc.) can also be applied to the group. It works like the Trim feature on individual clips, only that the associated other grouped clips are shortened or lengthened in the same way. By the way, in the Compositor window of PP, the clip in which the mouse pointer is located is displayed. Only one channel is displayed at a time, just like in normal Trim mode. I guess it's just applying the normal trim mode of one channel and synchronizing the shortened or extended frames to the other channels." Started discussing this but do not know what to do in the cases where the group is all over the place and there are clips in between in the way. How about a streamable demo that shows what to do in the non-obvious cases?

Forgot to close earlier. Last note by IgorB says to look at 0000102 which I will do now.
Thank you for waiting for me. Trim feature to the group works very fine for me. It is really fantastic feature! The X on the edge of the clip (when showed) means the end of the clip, I think. To show it to other users I have done a quickly screencast, if you want: https://streamable.com/eeazc No compressed file to: https://www.datafilehost.com/d/e1fc2b9e But in the summary of the issue it is written *Have "drag source only" also applicable to groups*. Then I don't know, if Sam and Xing agree with me, that that issue can be closed or less. There is another issue connected at this issue, I think; it is the 0000102. Can you confirm, please? |

You can now see a shortening or lengthening line if you change the length of the group. A ubuntu 16 build is at: https://www.cinelerra-gg.org/download/testing/cinelerra-5.1-ub16-x86_64-static.txz If this is acceptable, I will soon mark the issue as resolved (but not until IgorB gets to comment!!) |
|
The line doesn't have to be special. It can simply be a superimposed line, if technically feasible. I have added an example photo. |
|
Sam: "In the video you can see a shortening or lengthening line if you change the length of the group. Would that also be possible here?" GG added and checked in a change that at least puts a red arrow and red X for the group dragging. He is thinking about a line later. |
|
I agree with Sam, It's really great!
Here again the link to the video: https://streamable.com/qqjni It's working perfectly. Absolutely great! In the video you can see a shortening or lengthening line if you change the length of the group. Would that also be possible here? |
|
You can now "drag source only" Groups as shown in Sam's streamable qqjni.mp4 (not sure where the link is). We need feedback.
