Summary | 0000148: Transitions slow down while playing and then speed up after
Description | Not sure what is happening, but at least the dissolve and bandwipe transitions, on a 30fps video, go from 30fps to 12fps and then when complete up to 140fps before settling back to the expected 30fps. I was able to determine that it seemed to stay about 30fps on April 4,2017 (sav100) but then sometime by Feb 15, 2018 (sav200) it started looking odd. Need investigation.

GG thinks the slowdown (see email) is due to optimization when compiling in debug mode for those who build themselves. We switched here and no longer have the transition slowdown problem. So add -O2 as in: CFLAGS=”-O2 -ggdb” make -j8 rebuild_all |

I've seen that behavior, too. But I have to say that after formatting and reinstalling Arch, the situation has improved a lot. However, when the video playback is lagging behind, it tries to get back to normal (in sync with the audio) by going faster. I'm guessing you have a 144Hz monitor, hence the 140fps. I have a 60Hz display and in fact the max fps to recover synchronization is 60fps. Maybe! I don't understand any of this. |
