PhyllisSmith, you are right. It is all around the audio. When I am in Proxy mode I have refer to Proxy tab except for the audio files that they are in Media tab. If the source video is without audio another question came and I wrote in 0000037. The reports 0000038 and 0000037 are brothers. In the future, it could be useful (also for the new users), that only Media tab is showed, and the proxy, when enabled, were invisible (behind the scenes). The program know if proxy is enabled or not, and what parameters it has (proxy4-mp4, proxy4-mov, proxy4-mpeg,... ). Then if I Proxy is enabled and I Drag and Drop a video from Media tab to the Viewer (or directly in Timeline), the software should load the proxy file instead source file. The user know if enabled or disabled by the icon on the left of the Main window. That not today or tomorrow, but in roadmap. If that has sense for you all (and other users) like me. In that issue, like in 0000037, I do not see others users interested about, then I think that I only use proxy feature. (Of course MantisBT is not like mailing list, then them can not see all) |

IgorB: I have reviewed your demo a few more times. I think the confusion is just the audio again. Also, I think that it is important to keep in mind that once you create a proxy, the file has a different name. For example: Media folder name is: "A.mov" and when not proxied that is the file that is actually on the timeline. Proxy folder name is: "A.proxy4-mov.mpeg" so when in proxy mode this file name is on the timeline and "A.mov" is not. And as was already mentioned audio is not proxied so in either case is on the timeline. If this makes sense to you now, let me know. |

I think this my reported issue is parent of 0000037 issue. I try to explain better. 1) load three videos in Resources, let's say A-B-C. Two of three have not audio (B-C without audio). 2) make proxy 3) from Proxy to Timeline, through the Viewer with In/Out point, insert all the videos or parts of its. 4) active Preview on Resources: the Vicon on Proxy shows the 5 seconds of the videos 5) Resources - Proxy, mouse over the Vicons: A, B, C showed the white/red bars. Okay. 6) Resources - Media, mouse over the Vicons: A showed the white/red bars, B and C showed black bars. Mmmh. What happens to Proxies occurs in the Media, and viceversa, I think. Can you confirm if I wrong to think that, please? Only in theory, I should not to see the Proxy tab but only the Media tab in Resources window. When Proxy is disabled, the original sources is loaded in Media tab, when Proxy is enabled then the proxies files are "loaded" in Media tab and the user can see the same names of sources files but, really, are loaded the proxies files. Or, to see it from another point of view: 1) Proxy disabled ==> only Media tab is showed in Resourced window. 2) Proxy enabled ==> only Proxy tab is showed in Resourced window. I do not have mix Proxy and Media content on Timeline, I think. Maybe I wrong and more information about the program are missed to me. Thanks a lot. |

OK, we finally got it! (At least I think so). It is also Audio and the reason is because you might have made cuts or inserts to only the Audio track associated with that Video. You need to show all of the cuts to both Video and Audio when in the Proxy folder but will only show cuts of the Audio when in the Media folder while proxied. Again, this is for consistency -- do you think there is a better way? |

Hi Phyllis, no, It don't works like you said. In my demo all the media (trim) are on timeline. With Proxy enabled, if I move the mouse over the Vicons (thumbnails) in Media, I can see the Preview Vicon with white/red bars on all except those without audio. In the demo video I show the info of the two media without audio. Thanks. |

This is correct operation. The Inter-View ONLY shows white/red bars for media actually on the timeline while there will always be black bars for media not on the timeline. In your demo case, the Proxy is on the timeline but the Media is not on the timeline. This is for consistency sake. To make sure that I did not miss anything, IgorBeghetto, please add a note to say it is OK to close this issue. |
