Cinelerra-GG runs on any Linux distribution via AppImage. Pre-built packages are available for Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Arch, openSUSE, and Slackware. The AppImage requires no installation and works out of the box.
Yes. Cinelerra-GG supports OpenGL for rendering, and VAAPI/VDPAU for hardware-accelerated video decoding. This significantly improves playback performance, especially with high-resolution footage.
Cinelerra-GG supports over 400 codecs through FFmpeg integration, including H.264, H.265/HEVC, ProRes, DNxHD, VP9, AV1, and many more. Container formats include MOV, MP4, MKV, AVI, WebM, and over 100 others.
Cinelerra-GG is licensed under GPL v3. You can use it for any purpose, including commercial work. There are no restrictions on what you create with it.
