Terms of Use

Last updated: May 2026

By using the Cinelerra-GG website and its associated community services, you agree to the following terms. Cinelerra-GG is a non-commercial open-source community project.

Software licence

Cinelerra-GG is free software released under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPL-3.0). You may use, modify and redistribute the software under the terms of the licence. The full licence text is shipped with every release.

Use of the website

You may use this website and its associated services (mailing list, bug tracker, forum, downloads, uploads) for their intended purposes. The following are not permitted: automated scraping at a scale that impairs operation, denial-of-service attempts, exploiting security vulnerabilities, and uploading unlawful or harmful content.

No warranty

Cinelerra-GG and this website are provided "as is" and "as available" without any express or implied warranty. The project contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages resulting from the use of the software or services โ€” to the extent permitted by applicable law. The liability limitations of the GPL-3.0 additionally apply.

Contributions to the project

By submitting code, patches, translations, documentation or other contributions to the project, you agree that they will be released under the GPL-3.0 (code) or a free licence compatible with the project documentation. You retain copyright in your contributions.

Trademarks and project lineage

"Cinelerra" was originally developed by Adam Williams at Heroine Virtual. Cinelerra-GG is an independent community-driven fork and has no formal relationship with the original Heroine Virtual version. The "GG" suffix is used to distinguish it clearly.

External links and content

This website links to external content such as repositories, forums and sister projects. The respective providers of linked external sites are solely responsible for their content. Please refer to their own terms of use and privacy policies.

Community conduct

Participants in the Cinelerra-GG community (mailing list, forum, bug tracker and other channels) are expected to communicate respectfully and constructively. Harassment, spam, targeted provocation and similar behaviour are not tolerated. Moderators reserve the right to take action up to and including account or list bans.

Changes to these terms

We may adapt these terms when the project or legal requirements change. The current version is available on this page. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the new terms. For questions, please contact [email protected].
